Countdown to School!

Well, we are starting our school routine this week in preparation for starting school.  I have enough ready that we can start a couple of weeks early and end the school year a couple of weeks early.  I think both kids will at least start the year strong and hopefully, they will enjoy school enough that we can keep momentum throughout the year.

Tim is starting to get a bit busier.  Every week he adds a couple of new things to his schedule, which is getting busier.  I'm not ready for it and I don't think he is quite ready for it, but I feel like we just need to rip the band-aid off and get things rolling, so we can get to January.  Things should calm down a bit in the new year.  He is enjoying his clinic time and learning.  He is fitting in some board studying because that is happening at the end of this month.

Hyrum filled his week with reading more Pokémon and thankfully discovered a new series to keep him entertained.  He tends to go through the graphic novels pretty fast and ends up not having anything to read before we can get to the library again.  This leads to boredom, which is never a good thing.  He also did some creating.  It's a little hard to see, but this is a jeep he made using Lila's brain flakes.  It's pretty cool and has been sitting on the mantel all week.  We took Hyrum to his first homeschool library meeting.  There was quite a few kids there and some looked to be similar to Hyrum in age.  I was really impressed with it.  They are doing a country study this summer and we happened to come on India.  They had a fun presentation and food for the kids to try.

Lila is itching to get back to normal play.  She doesn't wear her brace any more, but we are still trying to keep her from being overly active, just to make sure her collar bone is 100%.  We will probably give her the green light in about another week.  All the kids did plenty of outside play with each other and neighbors.  I got to go along for the ride and sweat right along with the kids.  We have entered the hottest part of summer here.  Luckily, it doesn't stay this hot and humid for very long.  Lila got plenty dirty every day as she continues to be my sensory kid that loves getting her hands in dirt and mud.

Liam, oh, Liam.  He is a nutter!  It's funny how different kids can be.  He has bits of Hyrum and Lila's personality, but he is his own person.  He continues to talk up a storm and is curious about everything.  He has started imitating more, especially in the kitchen.  All the kids have and still enjoy being in the kitchen.  The more of them there are the harder it gets, because there is less room.  He was with me making dinner one night and when I turned my back grabbed the stirring spoon to stir and take a taste.  Neither Hyrum or Lila would throw or hit out of anger.  It's new territory with Liam.  He has such a short fuse sometimes and he's way to young to reason with like you can an older child.  I'm crossing my fingers that maybe it will be mean he will be more regulated when he's older...probably not, but one can hope.

We had a fun Saturday planned.  Lila got the green light to swim, so we went swimming all morning.  We swim a member's house in the ward.  They happened to start doing some yard work and of course the younger two were all about watching.  The husband drove up and asked if any wanted a ride.  Lila hopped up and took ride.  Liam was content to just watch through the fence.

Tim was able to come home by lunch.  We did naps and after naps we made some homemade root beer.  The kids enjoyed watching the dry ice and having some floats.  We ended the day with a trip to the ninja park.  It was super hot and humid, but the kids burned there last bit of energy until dinner.

That's all from this week.  Until next week!
