Fall is in the Air!

We had some cooler weather this week after the warmer weather and the tropical storm that came through last week.  The kids were able to do lots of playing outside, which is always a win in my book.  It was also a win that I wasn't sweating.  I've noticed our school week tends to be very heavy at the beginning of the week and then we end the week lighter.  We don't do much outside of the house at the beginning of the week, except for school, but towards the end of the week we are busier.

The storm last week ruined our field trip plans, so Friday was our mammals field trip.  Hyrum finished his mammals unit and to celebrate we went to see some of the animals at our local children's museum.  The kids enjoyed finding the animals and seeing them.  The last time we tried seeing them, they were all hiding.  It was a success this time and they had a blast.

I skipped Thursday, but we had another learning lab at the library.  The kids learned about Frida Kahlo and did some fun self portraits.  It has been interesting to see how their drawing skills have evolved.  Hyrum has definitely improved in his confidence and ability.  Lila hasn't been interested in drawing at all, but all of a sudden she is drawing pictures and coloring.  I am always impressed with their lessons and activities.  It's a fun time for the kids to learn and to be with other kids.

Saturday, Tim didn't have a UNC football game, which was a first...ever.  We decided to take advantage and do something fun.  He had clinic in the morning, so after naps we headed out to a pumpkin patch.  We haven't done anything like this, so the kids were pleasantly surprised with all the fun activities and things to see and do.  We enjoyed seeing the sunflowers and pumpkins.

Liam probably enjoyed the slide the most.  He has been loving the slide.  He's really good at climbing the ladder and loves to zipped down.

Hyrum and Lila loved the giant slide.  Huge smiles all around.  Hyrum also made a few friends while there.  I had difficulty keeping up with him in such a large area.

Lila also tried the monkey bars.  She gets really nervous and always calls out for help.

Of course Tim and I forced the cute pumpkin pictures.  They just wanted to pick them all up carry them away, but we made them smile.  I think they are adorable.  Hyrum was more interested in playing tag in the sunflower field than look at any pumpkins.

Next week will be really quiet, because the library will be closed and there are no field trips planned.  Until then!
