We had a hard start to the week. Liam started running a low grade fever in the evening on Sunday, which ended up being a high grade fever by one in the morning. He wasn't happy...understandably, so he ended up in bed with mom and dad. He finally fell asleep after Tylenol kicked in to lower his fever. Four's company in a queen size bed! Liam definitely took up his share of the bed. I split my half with him and ended up with my baby belly hanging off the bed and poor Tim kept getting wacked in the face. This week I was really grateful for the flexibility of homeschool. We didn't have to be out the door at a certain time, so I could sleep a little longer in the morning to recover. Pretty sure Liam bounced back faster than Tim or I did this week. Oh to be young again!
We still managed to keep up with school. Hyrum continues to do well. He is learning to write an opinion paper, that was frustrating for him as well as not understanding some aspects of time. It's good for him to struggle, because most things come to him so easily that he just expects things to happen. Unfortunately, when they don't he has meltdowns. I was good to be able to work through his troubles, so he can practice what he should do if he's stuck instead of giving up or having a meltdown.
Lila continues to enjoy writing and cutting. Unfortunately, she lost her scissors for a while, because she gave herself and haircut. She is now sporting some swoopy bangs. It doesn't look too bad if her hair is conditioned so it curls a little, but if she is active or her hair gets messed up (this usually happens about five minutes after I fix it in the morning) she's got some crazy looking hair. It took forever for the hair to grow out that Hyrum cut and now we have something else.
The kids look forward to Lila's letter treat. This week was the letter 'd' and we made donuts. It's fun for the kids to help and Hyrum is becoming quite proficient at cracking eggs. Liam was super cute when he saw the donut. We put some sprinkles on it and he called it a pretty donut. It took him a minute to figure out how to eat it, but once he figured it out, it didn't last long.
Tim was busy all week with clinic and games. He had an away game for high school and a late football game for UNC. He didn't get to sleep until well after midnight. He also has several major things to he needs to prepare for the upcoming weeks. November will also be really busy because this coming weekend he travels to Virginia with UNC and then the following week he will be flying out to Arkansas for a job interview. UNC soccer is coming to a close, but not before some tournaments. It's unclear how many he will have to go to, but by the end of this month his weekends should start clearing up. We still have to make it through December, but he should have his weekends back!
Today we took our annual fall drive. I'm pretty sure Tim and I enjoy it more than the kids, but we were able to see some beautiful colors. It won't be long and the kids will be able to do some serious leaf jumping.
The kids are super excited for Halloween. This will be our first official year trick or treating. Between the kids being really young and our area not really doing anything because of covid, this is our first chance. It's a whole new experience. It should be lots of fun, because everything is more fun with you add the excitement of kids.
Until next week!
