December snuck up on me this year. I had a panic day this week when I sat down to do some planning and realized just how many things will be happening/need to be planned in a few short months. We took an extended Thanksgiving break, so we only had a partial week. It was nice to have a couple more days. I found some time to get some extra cleaning done...like the fridge. We are very good at the normal cleaning, but things like the fridge that only need to be done every once in a while tend to get a little out of control before I can get to it.
All of the kids struggled with behavior this week. Liam is in the thick of the terrible twos and the other two just love to exert their independence. But, these weeks tend to pop up when Tim has been more absent, which he has definitely be more absent. He has had more games than usual, because of all the tournaments and championship games. Things should actually start slowing down in about a week, as football and soccer will be over.
All the kids got plenty muddy this week. We have had lots of rain and not enough sun to dry things out. They love to be out and our investment of rubber boots is paying off. Hyrum continues to play soccer, even in his boots. He got to watch a World Cup soccer game with Tim this weekend. Tim said he did well, but started trying to convince all the adults to switch to kids TV. Lila opted to come with me to my stake primary meeting. I was surprised that she wanted to come. She did really well for the first hour and half, but the last little bit was harder and it was a good thing we were close to the snack table. The stake primary president made a ton of fruit cake and we got to bring home a couple of small loaves. Lila was pumped to bring them home from her meeting.
Liam continues to learn new words and talks up a storm. He is also learning to get dressed. This week he was very focused on shoes. Multiple times he would get shoes on before I could get him dressed after breakfast. He wore sandals every day and managed to slip on Lila's church shoes once. He is also learning his colors. It's fun to see him add color descriptors to crayons and cars.
We took a drive to see Christmas lights at a local church. It was way bigger than we thought with lots of depictions of the Savior's birth, booths, and activities indoors. I wish we could have gone on another day instead of just driving, but it was fun. Next week we are going to drive out to a house that goes all out with their decorations. They sync their lights to a local music station, so it's fun. Hopefully, we will get to do a few more fun things before Christmas.
That's all from us!
