World Cup and Christmas!

Another week has gone by in December.  Time is just slipping by these last few weeks of 2022.  Things continue to be very busy for Tim.  He typically has something every evening after clinic and his weekends get eaten up by preparing for patients, lectures, or presentations.  I never know exactly, just that the kids need to leave him alone.

This Saturday he managed to take a couple of hours off to watch a World Cup game.  I'm pretty sure it was the first time in our marriage that we have ever had a game on in the house.  It was such a weird sensation to hear sports announcers talking about the game.  All the kids were really excited to watch the game.  I slipped out to get a haircut and when I got back, I was greeted by a very excited Lila declaring that she was watching the World Cup and eating popcorn.  It was a very quiet couple of hours as the kids were entertained and Tim was happy to share soccer with the kids.

But, back to the beginning of the week.  Hyrum and Lila had another full week of school.  They continue to do well and are learning so much.  I like being apart of their growth and knowing exactly what they are learning.  I decided to be bold and plan a homeschool Christmas party.  We are just going to invite some neighbor kids over and do a little party.  I've never actually hosted a legit party with food and games, so it will be a new experience.  Great preparation for upcoming birthdays because Hyrum is requesting friend parties.

We don't tend to go anywhere at the beginning of the week as we spend more time with school.  We did a fun art activity at the library, which I am always grateful for.  I'm not the best with art and to have some extra support in areas that I lack is nice.  Lila is getting more creative and into art.  She loves cutting and creating.  She has way more focus than Hyrum does even at six and tends to have a better overall project.  But, if Hyrum is engaged he can do some pretty amazing work.  The only way to engage him is to involve Pokémon or Sonic.

Liam is very into the Christmas spirit.  He loves telling people Merry Christmas and looking for Christmas lights.  All the kids love candy canes and have had many already.  Liam is doing well with his speaking and is becoming for expressive when he talks.  He is also getting really good with his colors.  All the kids enjoyed attending the ward Christmas party.  Hyrum struggled a bit, because this wasn't a type of party that he could run around.  Most of the ward parties we have are outside and have places for the kids to run.  Hyrum entertained everyone when Feliz Navidad came on and he jumped up and in a super loud voice started to sing and dance.  The kids love that song, so it's a good thing that it comes on frequently on the radio.

We discovered a cool light show last year that times their lights to a local Christmas station.  We drove the kids out to watch it tonight and it was a hit.  They loved the music and watching everything change.  The only complaint was they didn't play Feliz Navidad...that came on a few minutes after we left on a different station.

That's it for us.  We have one more full week of school and I feel like so much needs to be done.  My big goal for this next week is to get started on wrapping presents.  It will be nice to get some closet space back.

Until next week!
