January Happenings

Whew! This was a good week to be done with. We finally caught Covid! Tim had chills overnight from Sunday to Monday so he tested before going to work and was positive. We were a little surprised because 1) he's tested so many times just because he's involved in patient care so we have always been cautious when it comes to testing and 2) we had already tested Lila because she was the first to get sick (Tim was the last), and she was negative.  I ended up testing because it would help determine if my OB appointments had to be adjusted. My home test was negative, but they asked me to get a PCR which was positive so one of my appointments will be pushed back.  Tim had to be out of work all week and would've been able to return tomorrow, but it is a holiday so he'll be back on Tuesday. Fortunately and most importantly, none of us had severe cases.  Each of the kids and Tim and I had fevers and chills for 1-2 days and slept a ton, but no one had breathing difficulties.

Due to Covid, we stayed inside most of the week which is always rough. I tried my hand at making Everything Bagels, and they turned out great. Hyrum helped out. Hyrum also has been reading through the Old Testament. We tried to convince him to start with The Book of Mormon, but he wanted to start from the beginning. He has been reading pretty quickly, and comprehension is not his goal, but he does underline Jesus' name when he sees it. He is in Jeremiah currently.  He has been working at it for a while but really picked things up this past week.  He asked if he can have a prize when he finishes, and he would like to go bowling--I think we can accommodate that. He also got a treat at church today from his new Primary teachers because he completed his prayer log as they requested.  He otherwise finally got to do his geology kit this week which he has been asking about for a while. He enjoyed making crystals in a cup (we'll try to send a picture next week) and then he made a volcano mold which we subsequently added a chemical packet to to create our own eruption.
Lila continues to spend a lot of time playing with her new jewelry and walking around in her princess shoes.  She continues to be a helper, and she also likes to play her ukulele (see picture).  Tim has tuned it with an app, but 10 seconds is probably the longest it is ever in tune.  She continues to well with her preschool, and she enjoys practicing her letters on her writing tablet.

Liam has had linger "goobers" from Covid, and I think he probably felt sick more than we even realized because he was so moody.  Over the past 2 days it has been wonderful to see our fun and happy little Liam come back little by little.  He continues to go through a language explosion, and we are always surprised by what he can come up with. He is also becoming more and more interested in books which is always one of my favorite stages.  He is even excited about books outside of bedtime, and he is starting to be introduced to some books that are story-based and not just pictures/naming books which is exciting.  Below is another picture of the kids just because we didn't have many pictures this week.  The final news

The final news for the week is that we've accepted a job in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This is the same place that we visited over the Christmas break.  We are really excited, and the next six months will be busy as a new baby comes, we finalize moving plans, and look for a place to rent (only to start...and it's time to have a backyard).  We still have plenty of training left in front of us, but I'm guessing time is going to go by quickly.
