Happy Saint Patrick's Day

The week passed quickly, with many ups and downs.  Tim had the week off again.  We are down to one week left.  It will be sad when he has to go back to work.  It's too bad he can't be off for longer, because it's nice to have an extra pair of adult hands around the house.

We had a mix of warm and cold weather.  I feel like March is more winter than February.  We had a little bit of snow that didn't really stick, but you could tell it was snow when it was falling.  We have also had days that feel more like summer.  It's a real roller coaster.  Like the weather, our kids have been struggling with their behavior.  We have moments of calm, nice behavior and periods where we are wondering what in the world is going one with the kids.

Liam had an enjoyable week watching the bucket loaders around our complex.  They come every spring and put woodchips around the landscape.  It usually takes several days.  There was a group of us out watching them on the sidewalk and they let Liam jump in for they experience.  Of course Liam found the horn and was going to town.  I had to pull him down to get him to stop.  My kids and heavy machinery!  He also spent plenty of time in time out.  We have started time outs with him.  I feel like with every kid we have to start doing it earlier, because they pick up behaviors from the older kids at a younger age.  It's a lot harder to break the habits with kids that are too young to understand what they are really doing.

We made it through the school week.  Hyrum is learning to be more flexible, which he does well sometimes and other times he doesn't do very well.  We've regressed as far has some emotional behavior.  He really struggles sometimes, but the past couple of weeks both Tim and I have been scratching our heads/pulling our hair out wondering what in the world is going on.  I am really hoping that 7 brings some relief.  He is already counting down the days until his birthday.  This coming week will be spent doing his end of year assessment. We have to give Hyrum a standardized test each year as part of the homeschool requirements.  He is actually really excited about it.  Reading through the exam instructions brought back memories from my childhood taking a very similar test.

Lila enjoyed swimming with Tim on Tuesday.  She also enjoyed her first musical.  Our stake put on The Secret Garden.  I would have loved to see it with her, but it was three hours.  Tim took her thinking that she would make it through an hour and then they would leave.  He texted at intermission to say that she was in for the long haul.  She was very excited when she got home.  I feel like in the past few weeks the number of hours spent in ballet shoes, singing, dancing and playing her ukulele have greatly increased.  I think we are going to try to find her some ballet lessons when we get settled in Fort Smith.

Friday was a day off for us.  Krispy Kreme was running a special that if you wore green you could get a free donut.  We all put on green, which we discovered is a color that we really don't have much of in our house, and got some tasty green donuts.

And just so you know, Krispy Kreme has a promotion that if you sign up for it you can get a free dozen donuts on your birthday.  Hyrum picked up on that real fast from the costumer in front of us and requested that he get some donuts for his birthday.

Owen is doing well.  The older two love to hold him, which is helpful at night when he is most fussy.  He is still struggling with his nights and falling asleep.  He mostly spends it grunting and working gas through.  I'm crossing fingers that it doesn't get worse.  Both Lila and Liam started really struggling around this time.  I keep going back and forth whether or not to just start cutting things from my diet, because the sleepless nights helping babies work the gas through and the days filled with hours of crying just doesn't sound appealing three kids in a row.  Other than that, he has started getting some really cute facial expressions and staying awake for a bit longer.  The kids are excited for when he becomes more active and they can play with him more.

Saint Patrick's day is also the day Tim and I celebrate our anniversary.  Technically, we were married two days after Christmas, but we are always busy with Christmas and New Years.  Saint Patrick's day is meaningful because it's the day we officially started dating much to the Monticello fish bowl's relief.  People had seen us going on dates with more frequency since November.  Before we came back from one of our marathon walks, Tim asked if I wanted to make it official, so we held hands through the complex.  It was all downhill from there!  We celebrated with some tasty Indian food, which is becoming a favorite.

That's about all from us.  I'm sure there was more that happened, but my brain will be fried for the next 11 months.  Until next week!
