Hyrum did a countdown and we have 15 days until we move. The time is going by so quickly. We have so many last times happening. I should be used to the moving by now, but it never gets easier. The kids have been troopers and have helped with lots of packing and cleaning. Lila gets the most helpful award as she was the one that dusted the bathroom baseboards, because I couldn't bend down that far with Owen in the carrier.
Lila continues to be our dancing, singing ballerina. She's learning to watch wear she swings her arms and legs, darn walls and doors! She is typically very helpful, except when she is not. She likes to give attitude every once in a while, but her internal drive/need to do adult things usually wins. She has recently learned to rhyme and identify patterns. I love it when they just discover things like that. I'm looking forward to next year, because I think the world is going to open more to her as she learns to put her skills together.
Hyrum got to have his last playdate with our neighbor. We have a neighbor that all the kids adore. They love playing with her kids, but they really love her. I'm not sure what magic she has, but her food is better, snacks are better, and playing with her is just magical. She really is a fun person and I think the kids will miss her. He went over and played camping, and he had fun. Hyrum is going through yet another fun phase (did you catch the sarcasm). He has been doing a lot of karate and attacking. He is learning that pretending to vanquish those around him when he isn't happy with them is not how we solve our problems...especially when he is vanquishing mom. Book/show banning is alive and well in our house.
Liam is a character. He is very ornery and loves to run away saying, "Can't catch me!" I'm not sure who is more excited for a fence Liam or myself. He is getting really into pretending. This week he was trimming trees much like Hyrum did at this age after seeing the landscapers come through and trim the bushes. He also loves to spray and put out fires. Usually every morning he has some sort of imaginative thing happening. This week he's had his blanket wrapped up and he tells us to be quiet because baby is sleeping. We typically have our evening check-in and discuss what moving things we will do the next day. He's the most into packing and helping. I snapped this picture this week while they kids were watching a show. You can't see if very well, but his back is actually bent really far. I looked at him and thought it couldn't be comfortable at all, but he seemed to be content. Oh to be young.
Owen is doing a little better at night. I think we finally have his gut cleared out. I'm hoping I have identified the last of the soy, because he seems to be a lot more happy. We actually had our first blowout, which is crazy. We saw some slight car improvement this week. Usually we have lots of screaming in the van, but we actually had a couple trips where he calmly sat. It gives me a little hope that he won't be screaming for three days. He is full of smiles and is learning to laugh and keep the pacifier in his mouth better. He has also started rubbing or holding things against his face. Lila gave him a toy and he just held it there forever.
Tim continues to try to learn as much as he can. He only has 10 days left to learn everything he can. While he does work hard, he had a play day this week with the rest of the fellows. They went to a ropes challenge course. It was a pretty impressive complex. I guess the even had rafting. Their raft flipped and he ended up getting a little banged up. The next day he was super sore...he's not as young as he used to be. He was released today for his calling. Neither of us have callings, which hasn't happened in a long time.
I'm hanging in there, chipping away at the list. I feel like we are making great progress. We only have the stuff out that we need and the kitchen. This week will be doing a bit of extra laundry, cleaning, and cooking, so I can get the kitchen packed up. Until next week!
