Rollercoaster Ride!

We had a crazy week at our house.  Lots of sickness and adventures all wrapped up in seven days.  So, let's get down to it!

We started off the week with stomach bugs.  Hyrum ate dinner and went to jump on the trampoline.  He said he wasn't feeling well, so we sent him to bed with a bowl.  Very little of the contents of his stomach ended up in the bowl.  We had a lesson on how to get to the bathroom if you have an upset stomach.  It took Tim and I forever to clean everything up.  Luckily Lila slept through lights on and our little carpet cleaner in the bedroom.  We thought that he just ate too much and the combo of jumping just caused problems, but Liam wasn't doing well on Tuesday and ended up sick as well.  Luckily, it stopped there and everyone else was healthy.  Poor Liam fell asleep on the floor.  He does everything in his power to not nap, so you know if wasn't feeling well.

We took the plunge and signed Hyrum up for karate.  He has been asking to do it for a while, but with Tim's training schedule and moving, we just hadn't done anything.  He had his first class this week.  Tim took him to meet Master Gray and get his evaluation.  He was so excited to go and Tim said it went well.  I will take him to his first official class this coming week.

Hyrum didn't really miss any school because of being ill.  It's interesting how school has become apart of family life during the day.  I've been experimenting with different ways to balance home and school and just making it flow.  He wasn't feeling well for the first half the week, but he was still able/wanted to do school.  We just got a later start and took a slower pace.

Lila was helpful this week as I was dealing with sick kids.  She is enjoying more freedom with Owen.  She likes taking him to play in her bedroom or setting up something for him.  It reminds me a lot of myself growing up.  She continues to zoom ahead with learning.  She want to learn to write and has been writing her own stories.  We are trying to nail down the letter sounds, so she won't be too frustrated when we do start readers and learning sentence structure.

Liam as sick for part of the week and the other part he was being a complete "three"nager.  We had many conversations about using our words and not our hands and when we are upset, we don't take our anger out on anything we can get your hands on.  The van ride home from our weekend adventure is a perfect example.  Owen dosen't travel well, and Liam was struggling with crying.  I kept on trying to figure out what the problem was, but he would say one thing and then start crying again.  Finally, I just ask him in complete frustration why he was crying and he said, "I don't know!"  I fully believed him.

Owen continues to move at amazing speeds.  We have to put all trash cans up high and away from the edge.  This week he learned that if he stretches and reaches he can get all sorts of things.  He started saying dada and lala.  He still prefers to blow raspberries, but he loves to chatter.  I think that he might have teeth coming in.  It will probably take forever, but he is drooling a lot and chewing on anything he can stuff in his mouth.

Friday was a big day for us.  We met with a realtor!  We aren't in a hurry to purchase a home, but we felt that we wanted to at least have the opportunity to look at homes if they peaked our interest.  She came highly recommended and she seems very nice and knowledgeable.  We'll see what the next 12 months brings!

Saturday we our adventure day.  We have been doing marine biology for science, so we went up to Bentonville's little aquarium to see some real animals.  We also went by the temple.  We haven't been up to see it.  The kids enjoyed the adventure, although the ride wasn't pleasant.  Owen really doesn't drive well when we do long trips.  He spends a lot of time crying and there isn't anything that we can do to comfort him.  We also went to a restaurant to eat, which was super nice not to have to rush dinner or clean up.

Here are some pictures from the aquarium.  The kids got the chance to touch some animals.  They loved watching the stingrays.  I thought it was so funny how they would swim and reach out of the water to be touched.  They kids also loved the small and big turtles and playing in the waterworks area.

They loved watching the parakeets.  Hyrum was the only one brave enough to let them eat from his hand.  Liam did it, but instantly tried to shake it off.  Hyrum loved it when they landed on his head.

That's all from us!  Here's to a healthy week!
