Christmas Eve!

We made it to Christmas Eve.  The one day a year where the kids stay in bed, because they want Santa to come.  If only we could make it happen more often!

The week was busy with all sorts of things, so lets get down to it.  We had school until Wednesday this week.  The kids were excited for a break.  We finished up with our Christmas Around the World. Hyrum chose Japan, so we go to learn a little bit about their Christmas traditions.  Apparently, it's tradition to have fried chicken, so the kids and I went to get some fried chicken to celebrate.  They thought it was super fun.

I have yet to finish up with prep for the next six weeks.  I just got caught up in sick kids and Christmas prep, that it didn't get done in the evenings.  Lila and Liam are better.  Liam ended up having roseola.  Lila just had a runny nose.  I think we have several different things going through the house.  Hyrum has what Lila has now and Owen has a terrible sounding dry cough.  There are just so many bugs going around that we are struggling to stay healthy.  I think everyone should be well enough to enjoy Christmas festivities.

Once school was finished, I started prepping Christmas food.  The kids did a good job this year with helping.  I tend to keep things simple for our Bethlehem dinner, so it's things the kids can help with.  Hyrum got to use a sharp knife to cut cucumbers and Lila has become quite efficient peeling carrots.  I did add some fish and flat bread this year.  Some of the family likes fish and some don't, but everyone loves flatbread.  It all gets eaten!

Tim had his weekly EQ meeting and I ended up spending several hours with a couple women from the ward helping a sister pack.  It helped her a lot and things were a lot smoother the following day when the EQ went to help her move.  While they were moving, her kids came over to play at our house.

We fit in a couple of drives to see some houses and neighborhoods that have homes on the market.  It's so interesting, because we will have several homes come on the market that are kind of what we are looking for and then there won't be anything for a couple of weeks.  The kids know the drill by now.  They ask if they have to take their shoes or not.  If we are going to actually go in a home they have to wear shoes and if we are just driving by they can go bare foot, which they love.  It makes them grumble a little less being shoeless.

With just one hour of church today, we had a little extra time.  Hyrum planned our afternoon.  We started with lunch, followed shortly by some family games and ending with a several hour nap to make the time pass faster.  They didn't make it very long with the nap, but it was a valiant effort.  The kids enjoyed eating on the floor for our Bethlehem dinner.  We did an abbreviated version of the Christmas story and sent them all to bed.

Santa has come and gone and now it is time for bed!

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
