May!

We spent the week trying to get back into a routine.  The end of April was so crazy that it was nice to just have some normal.  We started off the week with mowers.  One of the perks of renting is we don't have to maintain our yard.  Another perk is the kids being occupied for 20 minutes plus.  I caught this picture of the younger boys watching the mowers.  It's funny how every one of the kids has gone through a phase of watching big machinery.  I think Hyrum is the only one currently that doesn't run to the window to watch.

The kids are on their last couple of weeks of school.  This time of the year they are finishing up certain subjects, which makes school days shorter.  One of the things that was always hard as a teacher was filling the days the last couple of weeks.  We didn't have time to start major units or projects and with homeschool we are done when we are done...no filling the time.  We will continue to do bits of school through the summer, but for the most part we will be on vacation.

Both Hyrum and Lila had their extracurriculars.  Hyrum is gearing up for a sparring competition.  I have no idea how it will go, but he is very excited about it.  Lila has a couple of dance classes left.  She opted not to do the recital, so we won't have to worry about any of the rehearsals or performance.  Liam continues to work on going to bed.  We had some successes this week, which was nice.  It's amazing how much time you have when you aren't battling kids for 45 minutes.  Owen is a cutie.  He discovered sunglasses this week.  He also started taking 5-7 steps at a time.  As well, as working on a couple more teeth.  He was very fussy.

Because of all the craziness we didn't do Hyrum's birthday breakfast until Saturday.  He wanted biscuits and gravy, which is always a hit at our house.  He wanted a candle in his biscuit, so it was a fun little celebration.  Tim and I also decorated his chair.  It's the one tradition the kids always look forward to.

We also went to the Marshall's museum.  It's always hard to actually learn anything with kids, but it was interesting.  Liam has started saying that he's going to send the Marshall's to arrest Tim and I when he's upset.  Fort Smith also had their steel horse rally, which was fun for the kids to sit and watch all the motorcycles ride by.  Tim's parents came back through and are staying for a couple of days on their way home.  The kids love it when grandparents come, because of the extra adults to read to them and play games.  I'm not sure how much grandparents appreciate it, but kids love it!

Next week should be pretty routine...fingers crossed!
