A Happiest of the Birthdays!

We had a relatively quiet week compared to the previous couple of weeks.  The weather has cooled down and little, but by midmorning its perfect out for the kids to play.  They have enjoyed time outside.

School was routine this week.  All of the kids continue to do well with learning.  We were busy with extracurricular activities.  Our afternoons and evenings continue to be filled with all sorts of running.  Speaking of running.  I have done a lot better in recent months with running.  I was going in the evening, but with the sun going down so early now I've been dragging the kids along...sometimes literally.  One day I pushed Liam pretty much the whole way, while pushing the stroller.  On another day Hyrum spent the whole time stating for the whole neighborhood that he didn't want to ride his scooter because his knee hurt.  My response, "That's my line."

Really this week we were all waiting for Friday.  We have been on the countdown for two weeks.  Liam was pretty pumped to celebrate.  I think this is the first year that he really understood what was happening and could be excited.  He also had some interesting birthday requests.

Breakfast was pretty normal with biscuits and gravy.  We have started opening gifts in the morning before Tim leaves, so they can play with toys all day.  It's worked out really well.  He enjoyed play with all his gifts all day.  I don't think it took more than an hour for his scooter to be christened with dirt.  At one point it was completely covered in brown.  It's just one of those things that I have had to get used to...dirt.

We ended with fancy sandwiches made with homemade bread and berries for dinner.  It was pretty easy as far as meals go.  Everyone was happy.  True to form he requested a chocolate cake with mint frosting with sprinkles and M&Ms on top.  That kids loves his candy.  We also had some mint ice cream.  You can see in this picture his chair.  Hyrum and Lila did a great job decorating his chair.  It was very secure and stayed together for more than an hour due to the massive amounts of tape.

It was a successful week.  We are moving on to Thanksgiving.  Liam went to the store with me and chose the turkey and I have cranberries in the freezer, so we are pretty much ready to celebrate!

Until next week!
