Is is Christmas yet?

There is a lot of excitement at our house.  There is so much happening around this time of year.  I have tried really hard to make sure we don't have last minute things popping up, but there is always something that comes up to make this time of year fell rushed and stressful.

We continued to pass the cold around the family.  Lila, Liam, and myself passed a cold through most of the week.  Tim ended up getting sick towards the end of the week.  He usually doesn't get sick.  He ended up staying home from church today.  We are crossing our fingers that we will be healthy for Christmas.

Owen had a big week this week.  He finally got to switch his car seat to forward facing!  I think it's so fun to watch the kids when they switch their seats.  It's like they are experiencing a car ride for the first time.  He has been more content in the car...maybe he just didn't like the view.

I also snapped this cute picture.  Gotta love the reading!

Speaking of reading...Lila is really starting to take off.  We heard her reading more challenging books to Liam in the morning.  She even tried her hand at reading some scriptures, which I was shocked, because I didn't think she was that advanced.  She still has a long way to go, but she has definitely discovered her reading powers.  Along with the reading powers has come the spelling powers.  Tim and I are going to have to figure out some other way to communicate because she can figure it out.

Hyrum was busy with activities this week and school.  We have made some adjustments to our school routine in preparation for next year.  I've decided that we are going to switch to a year round model, so we are needing to make sure we make a years worth of growth by a specific date, because our new school year will start in July.  He's actually really excited about it.  There is something about getting a couple of weeks off that makes it special.

Liam continues to be our tough kid.  He tries hard to keep up with Hyrum, but Hyrum is still bigger.  I don't know for how long, because Liam is getting big really fast.  He's wanting to take on more responsibilities, which I am all for.  There is still plenty of throwing and crying, but I am hopeful that this year will bring a close to these behaviors as he matures.

This weekend we make a trip up to Bentonville.  The church placed some giving machines in the Walmart square.  We went up to let the kids choose something.  Lila chose to donate presents for kids, Liam was adamant that he wanted to do bees and Hyrum settled on a toilet.  His reasoning was that kidney disease is terrible, so toilets will definitely help with that.

Walmart does a really good job of decorating the square with pretty lights.  They also had a Santa and Mrs. Claus there for the kids to meet.  I had to hand it to Santa, because Hyrum said he wanted all the Pokémon cards in the world,  Santa responded by telling him that he needed to be realistic.  That's a concept that seems to be beyond Hyrum sometimes.

We don't have many tradition, but one that has stuck is looking at Christmas lights.  We typically do several Sunday drives in December to find the lights.  We hit the jackpot tonight!  We saw several shows and lots of really well lite homes.  Owen was screaming lights for much of the ride.  We still miss the house in North Carolina.  They probably had the best light show I have ever seen, but it's still really fun to watch the kids find joy and excitement.

Hopefully everyone is feeling calm and peaceful...not too much stress from the season.  Until next week!
