Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We had a crazy week with lots of anticipation. School was out and everyone was really happy to have a break. The kids enjoyed slower mornings where they didn't have to get ready right away for school.
Monday my parents came into town switching with Tim's parents. There was lots of hugs and wrestling. There was lots of excitement Christmas Eve. We did our traditional Bethlehem dinner. The kids always love sitting on the floor. We keep it pretty simple catering to the kids' taste, but one day I would like to have more traditional foods that Jews would have eaten. We aren't there yet, but maybe one day.
The kids were very excited for Santa to come. Liam and Lila went to bed easily. Hyrum really struggled to fall asleep. He was very excited for Santa. Unfortunately, that meant that I got to bed late. Hyrum woke up at 4 a.m. with Liam and proceeded to play until 5:30 when I sent them back to bed. Lila woke up a little later and I sent Tim out to handle things. He was great to hold them off until I could get another hour of sleep and he put in breakfast.
We had a lot of rain this week, so we didn't get outside to play much. The kids were crawling up the walls with energy, but we made it through. Grandparents helped to entertain kids by fixing hair, reading stories, and playing games. We should have sunnier weather this coming week, which means that we will be able to get outside more.
Tim was able to take off a couple of days to spend with us. It was nice to have him home. The kids always love having him home. He did catch a cold, so it wasn't as nice of a break for him. I made it through all the cleaning, cooking, and a baby shower, so I am pretty proud of myself.
Here's to a new year!
