Spring has sprung...maybe!

The much anticipated Spring might be heading our way soon.  We enjoyed some delightful 60 days and today was in the 70s.  We had to endure some rainy days, but we made it to the end.  I am ready for Spring.  I'm not a fan of the cold dark winter days.  I'm not sure how I ever survived as a child, because we certainly lived in some cold places.  After ten years in the south, I have come to appreciate the warm weather and shorter winter seasons.

We made it to the park this week to enjoy the first day of sunny weather.  We had a couple of days of hard rain.  The yard doesn't drain well at all.  Combined with the fact that we have a lot of clay, our yard is a marshy mesh.  It's been almost five days since it rained and the yard is still spongey.  No mater how many times I tell them to stay out of the yard until it dries out, mud gets tracked into the house.

Owen has been trying his hand at scootering.  We really need to get him a helmet.  I'm a stickler for helmets, especially after Hyrum hit a poll.  There is always plenty of bikes and scooters laying around for him to pick up and I can't always keep up with what needs to be purchased.  He's darn cute and very proud every time he gets it to roll.  He has started play parents to get what he wants.  Mostly, this happens at bed time when he requests one parent to take him to bed, but starts fussing for the other.  He's little and doesn't get it that he is number four and mom and dad stopped plaything that game four kids ago.  To bed he goes whether he sheds a few tears or not.

On weeks that we get stuck inside there is a lot more tension in the house.  The older kids are just at each other and the more they are at each other the less patience I have to help them solve the exact same problem that we have been working on all week.  Some days they get to play alone despite how much they say they are lonely and want to play with a siblings.  They got separated in the first place because they couldn't seem to play together without punching someone.  It's just a viscous cycle.

Hyrum had testing this week for a belt advancement.  He is the proud owner of a yellow belt and mom is the proud owner of one more belt to help him keep cleaned up.  Awesome!  He continues to discover cool things he can do with fractions and gets in trouble for punching or kicking a sibling constantly.  Double Awesome!

Liam is a pill.  He is constantly battling his awful four tendencies and his ability to think more rationally.  I am very grateful for all the progress he has made and look forward to the day with rational thought is the norm.  He has a funny personality and we never know what is going to come out of his mouth.  We had dinner with friends from church tonight and mom and dad failed to monitor his juice consumption, which resulted in an accident all over their bathroom floor minutes before leaving.  We had pants for him, but no underwear.  On the way home, Tim and I heard from the back, "Hey, if I pulled down my pants, BAM, no underwear!"  He kind of sounds like he is from the Bronx with his little speech impediment.  It was pretty funny.

Lila is as dramatic as ever and apparently a selfie master.  Apparently, she got my phone to snap a picture of herself.  She continue to loose teeth at a rapid pace.  They are starting to come in, but we keep hearing her shout out that she has another loose tooth.  She had a couple of hard falls this week and ended up with some scraped elbows and knees.  Spring is definitely in the air!

Until next week!
